Your guide to this year’s New Year celebration


To most of us, December the last month of the year is most popularly known as the Holiday season jammed packed with Christmas and New Year Eve celebrations.

The season has already kick-off with amazing discount offers on all top brands in shopping malls.

The team of Istathmir has made a list of events that you can attend to make your New Year’s Eve a memorable one in the Dubai.

New Year Eve’s fireworks

This year, Dubai will welcome a spectacular fireworks display, highlighting the monumental achievements and futuristic developments at the Downtown Dubai.

At the stroke of midnight, the fireworks at Burj Khalifa will light up the sky, celebrating the theme of national pride, bridging the gap between Dubai’s present and future.

The highlight of this year’s NYE fireworks is that the sequence will recreate the design of the logo of Expo 2020. This logo was inspired by the 4,000-year-old ring discovered by His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President & Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, at the Sarouq Al Hadeed site.

However, for those of you who miss the fireworks this year, no worries you can watch LIVE, all the way up to Dubai Creek Harbour, on big screens in Downtown Dubai as well as online at Twitter Livestream of New Year’s Eve Gala will also be running simultaneously. Follow @MyDowntownDubai.

How to watch?

Downtown Dubai visitors can watch the spectacle from specially allocated viewing points in Burj Park as well as from Mohammad Bin Rashid Boulevard. They are recommended to arrive before 6pm and take public transport to reach at the venue, while Roads & Transport Authority plans to extend the operational hours of the Dubai Metro for their convenience.

The fireworks will be followed by midnight moment of colourful strokes of light engulfing the global iconic Burj Khalifa. The event finale will be a mixture of breathtaking displays of pyrotechnics, marking Dubai as a new futuristic iconic hub.
