Fujairah’s new electronic ‘Yellow Pages.’


Entrepreneurship has been on a rise in the UAE lately. Recently a Fujairah-based Emirati entrepreneur launched a business directory website for the seventh emirate.

The site’s creator Sindiya Saad noted that she thought of this idea after noticing Fujairah residents driving long distances to make essential purchases and gain services.

According to the young entrepreneur, people living in the city did not even know where the tailor was nearby? This made her develop her creative idea into a web directory that would comprise all the primary information-covering customers’ vital needs and requirements.

With the support of the Crown Prince of Fujairah, Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, the website was launched this year in May.

Ms Saad’s team comprised a web developer, sales and marketing executive and an Emirati volunteer who helped her in making her dream come true. .

The website also promotes Fujairah as a major tourist destination, offering various hotel discounts and programmes, and at the same time putting Fujairah’s all the social events under one roof.

25-year-old Navas Usman, a marketing executive from India quoted to have said that the website received around 60K viewers in less than three months, which was unbelievable and at the same time encouraged more companies to join the directory.

Further modifications

Moreover, Ms Saad elaborated each day they are striving hard on improving the site to make it user-friendly, and at the same are planning to unveil an app along with Arabic version of the site very soon.

Residents of Fujairah voiced their welcome for the website.

“We need the website, as you cannot find everything in the yellow pages. I live in Fujairah but I do not know everything here,” said Shaikha Al Yamahi, 29.

“The directory will help me and everyone to find exactly what they need or are looking for in just a few clicks, and I will be more than happy to support them in any way possible.”
